    A Google User
I visited this salon after buying a Groupon Deal. I have tried on numerous occasions to complain directly to the salon but have been ignored and fobbed off. I will summarise my experience below.

On arrival at the clinic I was told that they did not have my booking. The manner in which I was informed of this was rude and the receptionist was convinced it must be my mistake as it wasn't on her computer. I know I had the right date as the date they said I had booked (the week before) clashed with recovery from a serious operation so I wouldn't have booked it for then. I then saw the receptionist have the exact same conversation with 2 other clients (also with Groupon vouchers) while I was there, still with the same dismissive manner.

They decided they could fit me in if I came back in half an hour, which I did.
I was also very unhappy with the results of the treatment. When I had the treatment the beautician decided to dim the lights which doesn't seem very sensible when applying eyelash extensions, surely she would need as much light as possible to see what she was doing? Maybe this explains the result. I was very surprised that the treatment only took 30 minutes. I have enquired about eyelash extensions at other salons before and it has always taken between one and two hours. The voucher was £25, this was 74% on the usual price, this would mean the usual price is £100, I find it hard to believe they usually charge £100 for a half hour treatment. On looking in the mirror thought they looked very spaced out and spidery and far too long for my face. I raised it with the beautician who promised me that they looked great and that I needed to get used to them. She convinced me to wear them for a while and come back if I didn't like them.

I left the salon but after looking at them in natural light they looked even worse, there were only about 15 lashes on each eye and they were very spaced out. I went back to the salon to say I wanted them taken off, again she convinced me that I needed to wear them for a bit longer, her colleagues also said they looked fantastic. I regret believing it now, however there were three people all telling me they looked great. I said I'd wear them over night and maybe book in to have them removed if I still didn't like them in the morning. She said I needed to buy a mascara to ensure they keep well and for some stupid reason (probably hoping that I wold start to like them) I handed over £12 for this. I left the salon determined to wear them overnight. However every time I looked in a mirror I could see more and more issues with the lashes, I could see blobs of glue along the lash line and feel blobs of glue irritating my eye every time I closed them. I called the salon to say I would need them removed I wouldn't be changing my mind. I knew she would charge me £12 for this as she'd said the first time I said I didn't like them (about 2 minutes after the treatment). I said this would be fine. When I went back to the salon to have them removed I asked if I could have a refund for the mascara, they could see I hadn't used it however they refused. The beautician said she was calling the manager, however I don't believe she was telling the truth. It was at this point I decided I wasn't going to give them any more money and I would book somewhere else to have them removed.

I had them removed by someone else the next day. She was shocked at how badly they had been applied and said that the glue had clumped several lashes together, they were too long for my face and that they are supposed to go from shorter to longer along the lash line to mimic your natural lashes. She also said she needs a minimum of an hour to do a proper job.

I am very angry about my treatment and have had no luck in contacting the manager of the clinic with my feedback.

Can I give this place 0 stars? I am a qualified therapist who went there for what I thought was a job interview and trade test. Instead of giving me an interview and watching my treatments, the manager left me to work unsupervised on paying clients for a whole afternoon. I was offered a job on the condition that I did what he called another "trial day". This is not standard industry practice. I could have been anybody working on these paying clients and the manager wouldn't have known any better. He barely said two words to me. For someone who does not follow a standard recruitment proceedure, I don't think that clients are getting the best (especially when you consider what they pay for the treatments). King Street Clinic puts a recruitment advert up on gumtree every month or so and I think this speaks volumes about staff turnover. If you aren't investing in your staff then you're not investing in yor clients. I think clients should be made aware of this when choosing which spa/salon to go to. (I suspect that it goes without saying but after witnessing one afternoon of substandard practice, I withdrew my application from King Street Clinic).

................................I wrote the above review ages ago (summer 2011). I am including this note on here now as I notice that what used to be called "King Street Clinic" now appears to have rebranded itself as "King Street Medi Spa". It appears to be the same thing but with a different name. I suspect they are attempting to rebrand themselves after aquiring such a bad reputation as "King Street Clinic" through reviews such as the ones on here.
